This photoshoot is a celebration of Ukrainian culture, folklore, and tradition.
Every detail has its own meaning from the traditional embroidered vyshyvanka, handmade with cross-stitch and reflecting the unique heritage of different Ukrainian regions, to the floral wreath inspired by Ivana Kupala traditions, when girls would weave wreaths and release them into the river, hoping their future husbands would catch them on the riverbank.
The Ukrainian star (rizdviana zirka), traditionally associated with Malanka and winter celebrations, add even more cultural symbolism to the story. It was made by Mr. Oleksandr.
One of my favorite details is the handmade goat (koza) mask, inspired by the traditional Malanka festival. It was created from papier-mâché by the model herself, who is also an artist. She told me that her whole family helped with the long process of gluing and layering the material to create it.
